Here Body
2015

Here Body trailer from Neus Gil Cortes on Vimeo.

"I am fascinated by Gil Cortés’ process of transforming memory into choreography, finding the emotion in motion and fusing the two in their shared meaning. This is what she does so well" Nicholas Minns at Writing about dance, 20th January 2016 Full review here

"I loved the fact Here Body will forever change, never stay the same - rather like our own bodies" Steve Stratford at Steve Stratford reviews, 30th June 2015. Full review here

Here Body explores feelings and fears around death and decay.
The feeling of loss.
The fear to forget or being forgotten.

And because we know others decay and die, we know about the certainty of our own death.
What's our relationship with this body of ours, once we know is not ever-lasting? Could that limitation of time make us enjoy living even more?

This piece is dedicated to my grandmother Concha Baquero and great-aunt Consuelo Soriano, who died a few months ago, and to my great aunt, Amparo Cortés, 90 years old and still enjoying life. Everyday she teaches me so much about living that we call her: "Tuvive" (you have to live!)
